    說明：
    這句片語源自撞球，eight ball 是標有 8 字的黑色球，八號球必須最後打，過程中若碰到八號球便算犯規。所以當八號球擋在母球和目標球的中間時，對打球者而言相當不利。因此 behind the eight ball 便用來比喻「陷入困境；處於不利地位」。
